Wednesday, May 16th

Recently, our Men's baseball team gave it all they got and won our NCCAA regional tournament!  We're so proud of the baseball team and for everything they've been able to accomplish this year.
As of this Monday, the men's baseball team traveled to Ohio where they're participating in the NCCAA baseball tournament. I am personally excited for them because they will get to see my home state.

They plan on playing throughout the week and it is a double elimination tournament.

As of earlier this week, we found out the results and they won the national championship as well! This is their third NCCAA championship in three years! A really neat fact is that the Atlanta Braves even wished the men's team well via a letter sent earlier this week. Go Eagles!

Wednesday, May 1st

This week, intramural softball started and many of the freshman girls in LeTourneau are playing on a team. When I played softball for a few years, I played short-stop and second base.  Do you play softball? If so, what’s your position?  Comment below and we’ll send you a free TFC T-shirt!
Last week I got to catch a couple of the games.
Take a look at some of the photos!

Thursday, April 18th

The TFC baseball team has recently played a few home games! I had the opportunity to attend a game and also saw TFC's President, Dr. Bob Myers, who came and watched the game as well!
The Eagles have recently played Emmanuel College and although they played a great game, they lost in the tenth inning with a score of 4-3.
Dr. Bob took a picture of our fans!

During Campus Preview, many of you future athletes came out and participated in a sports workout as well!  I didn't get a chance to run with the team due to an injury during our sports workout, but I was excited to hear a previewer came out for Cross Country too!

Monday, April 1st

Inter-mural basketball time!

It's that time of year for intermural basketball!  This year, if you
had at least five guys on a team you could form a team and be apart of
the league.  I love watching intermural sports because people who
don't have the time to play a sport through the college get a chance
to show their talent.  It surprised me how many of the foreign
students were great at basketball!

Even as a freshman, you can sign up for intermural sports if you have
enough people to make a team.  We offer intermural sports for
volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball!  The games are fun to
attend and I hope to participate in a softball team later in the
spring!

Friday, March 15th

This week on Wednesday, we had another home baseball game!  The TFC Eagles faced Reinhardt College in the afternoon and won at home, 2-1!  Rumor has it that the president of TFC came to the game as well!
Earlier in the week, March 6-8th, the #1 Eagles, baseball team took on #2 team Florida Christian!

The weekend was filled with a triple-header game series!  The Eagles ended the triple-header against FCC with a 14-5 victory in the final game of the series! The Eagles had a team average over .500 with 16 hits and 28 runners on base!  I’m excited to see how the rest of the baseball season goes!

Friday, March 8th

On Friday, the Men’s baseball team faced Bethel for their very first home opener! TFC won both games, swooping Bethel in the first game then having a nail-bitter finish in the second game!

Their first game stated at one and I was still in class, but I went to their second game at four and at the top of the seventh inning and it was great to watch! TFC tied up the game 7-7 and held Bethal at bay through the bottom of the seventh. This meant that they’d go into over-time and one of our players, Josh, hit a walk off home run in the extra inning! It was so exciting! It made TFC really excited about the upcoming baseball season because we’ve been NCCAA National Champions since 09’!

Friday, March 1st

This past weekend, the basketball teams headed to Clearwater, Florida for the NCCAA regional tournaments!  Overall, the ladies came in 3rd place out of four teams in our division.  The men won their first game and ended up losing in semi-finals.  Both teams played great and a lot of the TFC students got to watch both games online!  I know that I and my friends did!

A few of the players who went said that it was a great experience and from what I hear the ladies enjoyed their time at the beach!

Stay tuned for today at 1pm and 4pm the baseball teams have their home-opener!  Come out and support the Eagles! Go Eagles!!!!

Friday, February 22nd

This week, our men’s and women’s basketball teams headed to Clearwater, Florida for their regional tournament!  The men played a great first game and won!  The men will have their second game tonight and the women will have their first.  I can’t wait to see how far they advance!

In baseball, the Eagles won the first game of a double header with Point University  this week by a landslide! 14 – 5!  They lost the second game by only one point, 6 – 5.

Friday, February 15th

This past weekend, the Men’s basketball team had a game on Friday and Saturday. In Friday’s game, they faced their regional opponent, Trinity College of Florida.  The Eagles outplayed Trinity in all aspects of the game and won 98 – 67! The Men pulled another win at home and beat Johnson University on February 9 for a non-conference game and won 76 – 57. The Eagles have won 5 of their last 8 games including a three game win streak!

On Saturday, before the Men’s game, the ladies played Johnson and lost, but it was still a great game!
Recently, the baseball team has begun their season by playing a lot of away games! This year, they will be playing around 15 games away before they have a home game, but stay tuned for a blog about the first home game during the first week in March! This weekend, the baseball team traveled to Southern Wesleyan University and won two out of the three games!

Hayden, Cristy, Olivia, me, and Sarah!
The new term was kicked off with Basketball games! The team has competing rolling since the end of winterim!  We have had a number of home games for both the Ladies and the Men!

One of my close friends, Olivia, plays on the girls team so at one of the home games last week me, Sarah, and Cristy got shirts made for her by Hayden, one of our friends.  It was cool to go to the game, hang out, and support Olivia. A lot of the LeTourneau girls typically go to the games and represent as well.

Hayden made some pretty big shirts!

This week the big buzz is our game against Clearwater Christ this week. We hope to beat Clearwater on Saturday!  The ladies play at 1pm and the Men take them on at 3pm! Come on out and support the Eagles!  You can follow all the action on Twitter too by following the hashtag #beatClearwater.

Friday, December 7th

Dr. Garside X-C coach
Jeremiah, our Assistant Coach
On Saturday, the Cross-country team is having a goodbye party for seniors on the team.  Our head senior, Jeremiah, is also our assistant coach and I’ve gotten to know him and his family really well.  We also have Josh and Ben.  We will miss our seniors since they were also some of our best runners!  No one is leaving on our girls’ team, but our guys’ team will shrink in size.  That means we have some openings on our team for next year!  If you’re interested in running with us next year, feel free to email our awesome coach, Dr. Garside at dgarside@tfc.edu!

For the seniors we had Jeremiah, Ben (to the far left) and Josh (in the middle).  Sam one of our best runners (to the far right), has chosen another school so it can better fit his career path.  We will miss them all!

On Thursday night, the guys had a home game against Montreat College!  They lost, 63-72.

Friday, November 30th

Just before break, both basketball teams had two home games back-to-back both Friday and Saturday.  I had a great time at the Men's game on Friday night because it was such an intense game.  The game ended up going into overtime and you should have heard the crowd cheering!  The Men fell at home this weekend in both games, losing a nail biter Friday 76-75 in overtime. They lost Saturday 72-63 to Trinity.
The lady Eagles played Warren Wilson on Friday night and lost 48 to 56.  On Saturday, they played a good game and fell to Trinity, 51 to 78.

The Men's basketball team put on a good show Friday night with a special team warm-up!  Check out the video on our Facebook page!

Friday, November 16th

This week the Cross-country girls got together for a sleepover!  We all went to Alisha and Cristy’s terrace (an upperclassmen version of an apartment).  I had never been inside a terrace before now so it was cool being able to see what life would be like as an upperclassmen.

Before nationals every year, the girls make a video for the guys to help them defeat our rivals!  Last year, the girls copied the running styles of the guys and mimicked them, but this year, we did something even better.  Though I can’t tell you what it is yet be sure to check back for a description next week!
To update on our other awesome sports teams, the Men’s soccer team won one out of three of their games at Nationals in Kissimmee, FL!

Friday, November 2nd
This week, on Friday, the Men's soccer team beat Clearwater! That's right, our Men's soccer team is now ranked 6th among Christian colleges AND we are Regional Champions!  GO EAGLES!  They played a great game and won 1-0!  Everyone was super excited and supportive; we even got #beatclearwater #accomplished to trend on Twitter!
The soccer team leaves Monday during the day to face Northland International University!  Their game starts on Wednesday at noon in Kissimmee, Florida!
Last week was also a great week for our Cross-country team!  We faced Kentucky Christian and a number of D1 and D2 schools.  I didn't get to go due to a minor ankle injury during the week, but I was glad that our teams, both guys and girls, got second!  Our trophy name is Tracy, now you have the inside scoop too!
I am really looking forward to running in Cedarville, OH next Friday for Cross-country nationals!  I will be seeing my family for the first time since they dropped me off at TFC, so it is a very exciting week in the world of sports!

Friday, October 26th

It’s Regional Tournament week here at TFC for our soccer teams and our volleyball team!  On dorm mirrors, cafĂ© windows, and all over campus you see #beatclearwater, our  rival school for our men’s soccer team!  I have seen the hashtags around campus and on Twitter and it’s exciting to see everyone getting in on the action.  The men’s soccer team takes on Clearwater at 7 PM on Saturday.  The women’s soccer team is taking on their opponents, today at 4:30 PM.  The Lady Eagles volleyball team plays today at 2pm.  The first fifty students to the soccer games or volleyball games this weekend get a free regionals TFC t-shirt!  Here's a glimpse of what they look like!

Everyone on campus is getting hyped up about the upcoming events.  This weekend, the cross country team is off to Kentucky Christian University for the last meet before Nationals in Cedarville, OH!  I am really excited about finishing off the rest of our cross country season, and I hope to see my family when we head to Ohio in mid-November!

Friday, October 19th

This week was homecoming week here at TFC and just like many other teams, we had a home meet!  I have never run on our home course before for a meet, so this was very exciting and helpful since I know the course from practice.  I think my favorite part was the support from the baseball team and the men’s and women’s soccer teams.  While running, the baseball team helped keep our times at the mile markers and the soccer teams cheered for us as we looped the soccer field!  I thought it was really awesome that other sports took time to support the meet.  The coolest part of our race though has to be the end because the race ends with us running into the gate at the falls.
Me running the homecoming meet!

Both the guys and the girls cross country teams did well at the TFC 2012 homecoming meet.  For the guys, Sam was in the top 10 and for the ladies, Clessie and Alisha placed in the top 10. Go Eagles!

Girls Top 10: Clessie and Alisha!
Guys Top 10: Sam!

Friday, October 12th

On October 6th some of the cross country runners ran the local Mt. Currahee race.  Mt. Currahee is one of the biggest mountains within Toccoa and is an event the locals look forward to every year. This year alone, there were over 400 runners!

From the TFC cross country team there were four runners who ran the 10K race: Jimmy R for the guys, Clessie, Sarah, Cristy and our coach Dr. Garside!  I ran the 5K with Rebecca and Cristy.  Out of the 10K runners, Jimmy placed first in his age group, Clessie and Sarah  placed first and second, and coach Garside placed first for his age division.  For the 5K runners, Rebecca and Cristy got first and second for their age group and I placed second in my age group.  Coach Garside was proud of the results from our team! We were hoping this meant we would not have to practice on Monday but no such luck.

Running Mt. Currahee was fun for me because I didn’t run the 10K so it was just like running any other race.  While running, I met a local who was originally from Rochester, NY.  I found it really cool because that’s where my grandma is from.  I really enjoyed meeting a few of the locals and getting involved in a community style 5k.  In fact, our medals were hand made by one of the local Toccoa pastors.

Friday, October 5th

Here at TFC, we offer a number of sports for both girls and guys.  Our fall sports have been going on for about a month now and even our spring teams are already beginning to practice!  I am on the Cross-Country team and I love it!  I was never used to running long distances before coming here, but our Coach, Dr. Garside, really helped in training me to be able to run in the mountains. Our other fall sports are also about half way through their seasons.  The men’s and woman’s soccer and the woman’s volleyball team have been here before classes even started!  Even the spring teams  have been actively practicing on the field during their off season to get fired up for their 2012-2013 season!

Stay tuned for more!
